MapleStory Pianus Fight Remake Proposal

High Concept

  • Creation of a 2D platformer boss fight using concepts displayed in MapleStory.
  • Kill of be killed, avoid obstacles and chip away at the boss' health.
  • Playable on Desktop.

Story

  • You will be battling a big boss that influences the environment all around while you try to survive.
  • The best defense is a great offense so go and kill the boss.

Esthetics

  • Graphic Style: Cartoonish
  • Sound: ambient environment sounds and action sounds by the player and the boss (May or may not be implemented)

GamePlay

Mechanics

  • The player has the choice of killing the boss or dying, basically no choice, fight or die.

  • Keyboard Only

New User Experience

  • Instructions will be displayed below the game. (If time allows it, there will be a tutorial level.)

Player Learning

  • Players need to understand good places to move to doring the boss' attacks and good ways to avoid taking damage.
  • The main goal of the battle is to kill the boss, so the faster you can damage the boss the better.
  • This comes with learning how the boss attacks and the patterns.

Scoring

  • The damage you deal to the boss will be added to your score.
  • If you recieve damage from the boss, the amount of damage you take, is then subtracted from your score as well as your health.

About the Developer

  • I'm Allan Ng, a 2nd year Game Design and Development student.
  • I am focused on creating games, while encompassing every part of making the game until I get some people I like working with.
  • I am well versed in C# and learning C++.
  • For art, I like to use PhotoShop and Maya.
